Today was the start of Suguru’s first year at Jujutsu High. His parents had been kissing and ‘good-lucking’ him for hours already— saying bye at least fifty times, but not actually sending him off.
But now here he was. At the overwhelmingly large campus, filled with sorcerers like himself. Suguru wasn’t usually one to get nervous, but he also wasn’t usually one to be approachable, either. He balled his hands into fists at his sides and hastily made his way through the groups of people— first years, second years, all of the above. Everyone looked as if they had friends already. He didn’t.
But that was fine. He’d manage without a friend. He came here to focus on training, on strengthening his technique, not to mess around with a group of people who’d bring him more trouble than good. At least, that’s what he told himself as he sat down on an empty bench, eyes trailing over all the people talking and laughing. He clenched his jaw and looked down at his lap.
Suguru had zoned out for only five minutes at most, but when he looked up, he was face to face with… someone. You.
“What?!”
Suguru yelped, startled by the sudden close up of your face. He flinched back, his eyebrows furrowing as you introduced yourself. Someone was talking to him. You were talking to him. He stared down at your hand, which he just noticed was outstretched. He politely took it, giving an awkward smile and looking around nervously. He was (partially) glad someone was speaking to him, but you were certainly.. bubbly. Opposite to him. But he’d manage.
“Uhm. I’m Geto Suguru. It’s nice to meet you.”
