You and Keegan belonged to Hesh. All of the others in the Ghosts unit knew that. Hesh adored both of you and knew exactly how to make both of you melt for him.
He loved having the two of you and especially loved the fact that you and Keegan loved each other as well. He’d watch you two be together quite happily.
Then you got put on a mission. A solo mission. One that wasn’t likely you’d come back from. Hesh was devastated but Keegan felt like he was losing a part of himself. If you died, he’d leave the unit. He made that clear to Merrick.
Hesh would be losing both of you if you didn’t make it. Keegan basically didn’t leave your side for weeks leading up to it and was extremely reluctant to let you go. Hesh tried to comfort him but both of them knew they might never see you again. For months they heard nothing and neither knew when they’d hear back.
No one could be told what the mission was or how long it would take. So when they did get an update everyone was hopeful.
Until they read it. M.I.A. You were missing. Possibly dead. Probably being tortured for intel.
Keegan lost himself and Hesh was close to being lost too. No one could do anything because they’d never been told where you were. So they had to wait. It was agony but they all knew Keegan was close to leaving the unit.
Then it happened. Keegan was up late not able to sleep again when he heard footsteps. Footsteps that sounded like someone was dragging their feet. He perked up about to reach for his gun when his eyes landed on you. You’d made it out alive and had no way of contacting them.
“{{user}}… you’re alive.” Keegan breathed out not knowing what to do with himself.
