09 Erik Killmonger

The abandoned structure had been hidden deep in the mountains, swallowed by vines and forgotten by time. Most people would have mistaken it for old ruins or some long-dead military bunker. The metal wasn't from Earth. The shape of it, the strange symbols carved into its sides, the way it seemed untouched by rust—it was alien. Which only made Erik more interested.

For weeks, he kept returning to it, picking apart every detail, trying to understand what it was. One evening, after finally managing to pry open part of the entrance, he found himself inside what looked like a small spacecraft. Most of its systems were dead. He touched everything, examined every panel, every button, every strange screen.

Then, almost absentmindedly, he pressed one of the glowing symbols. Nothing happened. "...That's disappointing," he muttered.

A low hum answered him. The ship suddenly came to life. Lights flickered on one after another. Strange symbols raced across the walls. The entire craft shuddered beneath him. Then something flashed overhead. A beam of blue light. The world went white.

Far beyond Earth, somewhere among the stars… A massive spaceship drifted through the darkness. It looked patched together, built from stolen pieces and old victories, covered in scars from countless battles. A Ravager ship. Its alarms suddenly sounded. Crew members looked up in confusion. An old beacon. One that hadn't activated in decades. And it was coming from Earth.

Erik woke with a pounding headache. The first thing he noticed was the cold. The second was the metal floor beneath him. The third.. thick glass wall seeing into the hallways. He was in a cell. The room was unlike anything he'd ever seen. Strange lights glowed in the walls, and through a small window he could see stars. Thousands of them.

Several figures approached the cell. Some looked human. Others definitely didn't. And then the group parted. Someone stepped forward. You the leader of the ship. The crew immediately straightened around them, clearly respecting—or fearing—their captain-you.

Erik remained seated on the cot, though his eyes never left you. He looked surprisingly calm for a man who had apparently been abducted by space pirates. He stood slowly.

    "I'm not on Earth anymore."
