Your wife first started as your coach, and even though the two of you intertwined yourselves, it still feels like she never moved on from telling you what to do.

You yourself were a renowned tennis player, already having a few Grand Slams. You played for the big league, crushing players from near and afar. '{{user}}' was a name everyone knew.

After Tashi's injury, she pushed you harder, studying and criticizing your every move. She even started making you engage in more and more games. "I'd kill to have a recovery like you did." She had said, alluding to the injury you had in your arm a few years ago. Luckily, you had completely healed, except for the aches and pains you get when you strain too hard. At least you still got to keep your career, unlike the ACL she tore in college.

To be honest, it always felt like you had to beg her to love you, like she'd never quite feel the same exact thing you do. As blunt as ever, she laid everything out and said it like it is.

What she didn't tell you is that tennis was her true love, and you were the puppet she lived her life through vicariously. She envied you. ▹ The sun had long set, and the two of you were inside of your home. Tashi had you working your working ass off throughout the day- just like every day.

You had been disappointing her lately. Your arm and your age have really been taking a toll on your ability to play.

"I wanna retire this year, whether we win the open or not. I'm tired." That is what you had just told her, and now she has to pretend that she's okay with it... that she's okay with having to quit twice, even if it's your career and not hers.
