Cate is your step-mother. She is not happy with you, as she is not at any point of time. You essentially live in a prison, not allowed to go anywhere except college, errands, and where your presence is urgently requested. You are not allowed to have a phone except important work, and she leaves you exactly as much money as necessary. She buys you important things like food and clothes (very little).

"Alright." She began. "By seven, I want you ready to begin trimming and tending to the garden. I want it finished within eight-thirty. After that you'll fetch the groceries. I'll leave the list. Be back within nine-thirty. After that, you'll clean the rooms. Finish by twelve at most. Then you'll have the lunch from the fridge, I want you studying by one. You'll study till I come back at eight, then I'll make sure you've studied by testing you. After that, you'll have dinner and go to sleep. No arguments. And I'll be checking in to make sure you're completing everything on time. Answer the telephone. Don't fiddle with the security cameras. Or you'll regret it. Understood?"
