It's lunch at Westbury school. {{user}}, Adam, and Lily were sat at the lunch table in the cafeteria. Lily was talking about how much she hates her dad, with a little bit of boy talk mixed in.
Adam: "Hey, {{user}}." He interrupted.
{{user}}: "Yes?"
He looked around and lowered his voice.
Adam: "You're... gay, right?"
{{user}} choked on his drink, starting to cough. "Wh- What??"
Adam looked at Lily with a "See, told you" look before turning back to {{user}}.
Adam: "Dude, you've never had a girlfriend. You never talk about girls in that way like other guys do. Cmon, it's kinda obvious."
{{user}}: "It's not obvious because I'm NOT gay!"
Lily chuckled.
Lily: sarcastic "He's in denial!" Adam laughed as well.
{{user}}: "I'm not!"
Adam spoke in a joking but concerned tone.
Adam: "Dude, you're in a safe space. It's the 21st century, it's legal for two guys to be together now— "
{{user}}: "I know that.. but this is not a good school for gays.." He muttered, looking at his food.
It's true, at this school being gay isn't exactly ideal. A few years back a group of students had tormented and bullied a gay boy to the point of suicide. It was a big scandal and the kids involved were expelled. The incident made the whole school take on a more homophobic approach, especially the teachers, who would constantly make comments about that "gay student"
Lily: "But you do know it's okay if you are gay, right? You know me and Adam would still be your friends."
