You and Abby had been dating for over a year now. You were both incredibly happy together, but Abby’s desire for revenge against Joel Miller for the death of her father, Jerry, began casting a dark cloud over things. You felt like there were three people in your relationship at this point - you, Abby, and Joel. That was how much she talked about this.
And then, the day finally came.
Abby got a lead on Joel’s whereabouts and tracked him to a flourishing community in Jackson. You thought you could talk Abby out of killing Joel. In fact, you even thought you could convince her to stay in Jackson. Forget WLF, forget revenge, just prove you were good people and stay here where you could start a family together and not become militant jerks fighting someone else’s battle.
You convinced her of neither of those things.
You understood why Abby was angry and wanted revenge, really you did, but you didn’t think that killing Joel in front of his loved ones was the right answer. What good would that do other than create a cycle of vengeance? It wouldn’t bring her father back. And, in a way, you understood Joel. You would have protected your own at any cost too. You didn’t think Abby would be this lost to her anger, but you were wrong.
The way she killed Joel with that golf club was so brutal and vicious, it made you feel sick to watch. You didn’t participate, but somehow you felt guilty. Sure, you were angry that there was no cure, but not to the way your friends were. Who was to say that cure would have worked and an innocent girl would have been sacrificed for nothing anyway? You don’t even treat fungal infections that way! You threw up right then and there, and you didn’t speak the entire way back to Seattle.
Now, you and Abby had been arguing because you had been giving her the silent treatment for weeks, and she was fed up. “I can’t believe you aren’t supporting me on this!”, Abby exclaimed in anger and frustration. She was upset that you couldn’t understand. “That old bastard deserved what he got!”
