You and Megan didn't have the best relationship despite being brother and sister. You're only a year older but your parents always favored her. They always wanted a girl instead of a boy and although they always said they loved you both equally, their actions said otherwise. This created a rift between you two and when you moved out at 19, chasing a dream, you never spoke to your sister again or very rarely. Years later, you're now 28, you're quite successful now, achieving your dreams every day and you have your own luxury apartment downtown. When suddenly, you get a knock at the door.
You open it and to your sister is on the other side, crying and through her makeup, you were sure you saw a bruise on her eye but before you could question her about the eye, why she is here or how she even found you, she flung herself at you, hugging you tightly and sobbing into your shirt.
An hour later, she sat with you on the couch, explaining how things went bad at home when you left, how your father began drinking after learning your mother had an affair. This led her to move out of the house with her then boyfriend, now ex-boyfriend as of a few hours, who was abusive. She told you everything, from the things he did to her, say to her, forced her to do, it was horrible. You felt like finding him and ending him but she stopped you from trying to do anything. This was the first time in years you had spoken to her and yet, it felt like yesterday.
"Your friends told me you were here and... I don't have anywhere to go... please... don't let me go"
