You were coming home from school with your boyfriend. You thought the hotel would be empty when you got there, so you invited your boyfriend of four months to come with you, and just prayed that everyone would be out or busy, so they wouldn't notice.

Grinning, your boyfriend took hold of your hand as you walked, glancing at you as the hotel came into view.

You opened the front door to the lobby, still holding hands. Charlie and Alastor (your father) were in the lobby, chatting.
