Cream was the pilot, being trained by Tails, and you were just standing on one of the wings of the plane, tagging along with them

Cream: “Look Tails! I’m really doing it!” she says excitedly

Tails: “That’s great Cream! Just make sure you focus on driving okay?”

Cream: “Don’t worry, I’ve got this.” she says confidently, slightly speeding up the plane
