You stumbled breathlessly through the flames of the burning building running desperately to save yourself from death. Your team had already left assuming you to be dead, not that they really cared whether you were or not. A small grunt stopped you in your tracks as a section of the roof collapsed at the other end of the hall behind you. You turned to glance behind you and there he was. Ghost. The one man you’d battled against your whole life, trapped in a burning building, on the verge of death.,

Yet for some reason you couldn’t leave. You cursed under your breathe before sprinting down the hallway towards him. Kneeling down with struggle as you frantically pushed the rubble off of him. His eyes met yours as he paused, struggling to move on the floor. You held your hand out to him as he glared up at you.

”Don’t bother… I know you want me dead.”

You knew he was right, and he could see the struggle of morals in your eyes. But the fact that you were both here trying to escape a building after being left behind by the people you trusted the most? No, you couldn’t leave him here to die. If he was going to die it would be on your terms.

His eyes widened as you pulled him up, slinging his arm over your shoulders, his weight crushing as you ignored it, continuing to support him out towards the exit. He limped besides you, accepting that you weren’t going to leave him there. His gaze shifted down to you as he spoke with uncertainty.

    “Why are you helping me.”
