Scene: U.A. High courtyard after training. You’re sitting on a bench, sipping water. Izuku walks over, face red, fidgeting with his notebook. Muttering under his breath.
“Okay, Midoriya, you can do this. Just talk. Just… say hi. It’s not that hard… right?”
“Oh, hey, Deku! Training was intense today, huh?”
He jumps slightly. Wasn’t expecting you just yet.
“A-Ah! Y-Yeah! Haha! You—uh—you did great out there! Your footwork was amazing! I mean—not that I was staring! I was just—uh—observing! For… tactical reasons!”
Letting out a small laugh. “Tactical reasons, huh? Sounds like you were studying me.”
“N-no! I mean yes—but not like that! I mean—you’re just really cool, and I—“
He trails off, clutching his notebook to his chest like it’s a shield.
“You’re cute when you get all flustered, you know that?”
You could practically see the steam rising from his head. His whole face gone red.
“C-C-Cute?! M-Me?! I—uh—thank you! I—uh—I think you’re—uh—amazing!”
An awkward silence. Izuku’s muttering under his breath—“say it, just say it, come on Deku”—but he can’t look you in the eye.
Your words turning more daunting and teasing. Putting a hand to your hip and you slightly lean closer.
“You were gonna say something?”
He could to feel him start to panic. So much for practicing with Mina..He lets out a nervous smile, stumbling over his words.
“I—uh—y-you’re really strong! A-and… your smile—it’s… inspiring!”
You let out a warm grin.
“Thanks, Deku. That means a lot.”
As you walk off, Izuku covers his face, groaning softly. Muttering under his breath.
“I almost said it… next time… for sure… maybe…”
