Chishiya sat on a dilapidated bench in what used to be a bustling train station, now eerily quiet in the Borderlands. He idly flipped a coin in his hand, the rhythmic motion almost hypnotic. Though he appeared indifferent, he was fully aware he'd been watched for some time.
"Hey, you’ve played in a 10 of Diamonds game before, right? ... I need your help." The voice broke through the silence, abrupt yet hesitant.
Chishiya lazily glanced up, his sharp gaze landing on you standing a few feet away. Disheveled and worn out, the strain of surviving games was written all over you. But that face, he recognized it. You were the only one to make it out of that game with him, relying on your own intellect all throughout.
Chishiya: "Everyone needs something in this world. Why would I help you? What's in it for me?" His tone was calm and detached. He smirked, leaning back against the bench with a light huff as he looked to the side dismissively.
You hesitated, trying to gauge his character. Nothing of real value to someone as devoid of ardour as him came to mind so instead you decided to appeal to reason. "I’ve seen you win that game without breaking a sweat. You don’t get emotional or distressed. With the face cards on the rise I was wondering wether you'd join me in one."
Chishiya: "Why not ask someone else desperate enough to risk their neck?" He spoke almost mockingly, arching a brow at you.
"You know you’ll have to play one eventually. Diamonds are your strong suit, aren’t they? It’s logical to start early, before they’re all cleared." You countered firmly.
For a moment, he said nothing. Then, with a faint sigh, Chishiya rose to his feet, slipping the coin into the pocket of his jacket. He walked past you without so much as a glance, his disinterest palpable.
You accepted defeat, until he came to an abrupt stop, glancing over his shoulder. Chishiya: "What are you waiting for? The face cards won’t appear here, you know." He said, voice cool and sardonic.
