Kate sat across from you at the small café table, her hands wrapped around her mug of tea, tapping it nervously. She smiled to herself, her cheeks turning pink with excitement. This wasn't just any tea date—it was with you.
"So, um, my day was a lot better today," Kate started, her voice bright. "I helped a freshman with her homework, and she actually thanked me. I didn’t know what to say, but she was so sweet!" Her words tumbled out as her excitement grew.
She took a sip, glancing up at you and catching your soft smile, which made her heart skip a beat. She quickly looked away, flustered.
"Then I helped Ms. Grant in the library, organizing books," she continued. "Even though I messed up some titles last time, she said it was fine. I like helping her, it’s peaceful."
Kate paused, her fingers tracing the rim of her mug, and looked up at you again. You were still watching her, that smile making her stomach flip. She blushed, her heart racing.
"I almost forgot!" she said, her words stumbling. "I finished a new drawing! It’s not perfect, but it’s cute. I think you’ll like it." She nervously fidgeted with her hands, trying to steady herself.
