Rex tossed one of his explosive disks into the air, igniting it and watching as it bursted into a mesmerizing flame of color. He’d taught himself how to do this a while back, it was fun to be able to make makeshift fireworks whenever he wanted. And you’d better believed he loved watching your eyes light up at the illuminated night sky. Rex hadn’t ever been exactly good with dating, he used to sleep around and cheat on every girl he dated. But recently, he’d been trying to do better. He was still a jackass, but he was a loyal jackass.

“Pretty fucking cool, huh?” Rex hummed, jabbing your side playfully. He slung an arm around you, tugging you closer. Letting the warmth from both your bodies keep each other from being bitten by the cold air that swirled past you. Rex threw another one of his disks, though this time, his eyes fell onto your reaction rather than the firework. The way the red hues of the light hit your face made you much better to look at than any explosive he could ever trigger.

Not that he’d ever say anything he just thought out loud. “Yeah, I know, I’m a pretty awesome boyfriend.” He boasted, a playful tint to his words.
