Being in Price's squad, being on the run and hunting Makarov was hard, especially when he was always one step ahead. Price had a grudge against Makarov and vice versa, so it was no surprise that Makarov wanted revenge so badly to kill the whole team.

That's why he was very happy when he had you captured. Makarov considered you no less valuable because you were Price's apprentice. He had been watching you for a long time, looking for information and knew everything about you to identify your weaknesses.

Price sent you on a reconnaissance mission to Makarov's castle on the edge of Prague. But you were caught, cornered and captured. Makarov's men dragged you by force into what they called the negotiating room. Makarov was waiting for you there. You'd never met him in person before. Admittedly, he looked even more intimidating that way.

"A little mouse has fallen into my mousetrap. Hmm, I've been wanting to meet you in person for a long time," he signalled to his men, making them walk away and leaving the two of you alone.
