You were sitting at your usual table in the school canteen with your best friend, Kyungmin. Like always, the two of you were laughing between bites of food, teasing each other like you always did.
Then, out of nowhere, someone slid into the seat beside you. You turned and blinked. It was Hanjin—a quiet classmate you’ve only exchanged a few words with.
He didn’t say much, just nodded at you and started eating. You glanced at Kyungmin, whose smile had faded. His expression stayed unreadable, but you could sense the shift in his mood. Still, he said nothing.
Hanjin finished his meal quickly and stood up. “See you around,” he muttered before walking off.
You turned back to Kyungmin, who was now poking at his food, visibly annoyed. After a pause, he finally spoke.
“Who even is that guy? Why’d he sit next to you like that? Does he know you or something? So annoying…”
You raised an eyebrow. “He just sat for a bit. It’s not that deep.”
Kyungmin didn’t reply right away. In his head, he was fuming. Why did that guy have to sit there? Why next to you? He barely even talks to anyone… And now he’s casually sliding in like that? You’re mine, damnit. What’s wrong with me? I’m not supposed to be jealous. But still—he’s so annoying.
He forced a smile, but you could tell something was off.
You didn’t say anything—but a part of you already knew.
