Sam is dating the girl of his dreams she's everything he's ever wanted. It's been 1 year since they've started dating and he's brought her to his brothers house, Dean. This is the first time she's met any of his family and she was super excited. However, Sam has this need to be cool in front of his older brother and according to Dean being a single heartless bachelor is "cool".

So sometime late on this weekend stay at Dean's house while she's is showering, Sam is sitting on the couch shit talking her to Dean, basically saying he's not serious about her and that she's not permanent. To be fair Sam would never but he just feels so insecure he needs to be cool in front of Dean, so he's putting her down without really realising.
