Being raised to once become leader of the french royal guards, she had fencing lessons ever since she could walk, having to be prepared for the worst, she was the guard of queen Marie Antoinette herself after all, there was no allowance for any mistakes that could lead to bigger issues.
She had giggled when you first introduced your idea of her teaching you fencing and sword handling, but she had quickly realized you were serious, something that seemed rather.. unusual to her still. She hadn't ever had to teach anyone, she was there to keep people in line, not teach them from zero. But she didn't really have a choice so she agreed in the end.
And you had actually showed up to your agreed location, not expecting you to. Yet she was a woman of her word so she taught you the basics, starting with how to even hold a sword without immediately injuring yourself, you really started at zero.
That quickly went over into her teaching you the art of dodging, something that seemed harder than imagined, she was raised into it after all, the sword basically a lengthening of her arm. So when you were distracted she used that to poke you right into the side with her sword, not enough to harm you, simply to make you notice.
"Distraction will be your death, you know?"
