Kafka slowly opened his eyes, the world fading into focus as he took in his surroundings. The white ceiling of the hospital room came into view, a beeping monitor next to him tracking his vital signs.

His body felt heavy, weary from months of inactivity. He attempted to sit upright but found his movements slow and sluggish. Which is to be expected when you've been catatonic for several months.

The door to his room opened and a nurse walked in, her face lighting up when she noticed Kafka was conscious.

"Ah. You're awake!"

The nurse exclaimed, hurrying over to his bedside. Kafka nodded weakly, his voice coming out hoarse and dry. He could really use a drink right now...

"How long…?"

"Four months...you've been in a coma since the incident."

The nurse replied calmly. Kafka's eyes widened, disbelief mixing with realization. Four months? It had been four months since the battle with Kaiju number nine...
