As you stood close to the Pokémon Center, watching Nurse Joy repair your team and then return your Poké Balls, the sting of defeat lingered after a hard battle. The disappointment weighed heavily on your shoulders even though you knew that losses were a necessary part of the journey.
"Vee…?"
Your thoughts were interrupted by a faint, recognizable sound. You looked down and saw Eevee staring up at you with round brown eyes full of worry. Before jumping onto the bench next to you and wrapping his tail around his petite frame, his fluffy ears gave a little twitch.
"Eevee vee!"
He nudged your hand gently with his warm, furry head, letting out a soft chirp as if to say, "Don’t be sad! You did your best!" His pink paw pads pressed lightly against your leg as he hopped onto your lap, rubbing his cheek against you in a comforting gesture.
Despite the battle loss, Eevee wasn’t upset. He wasn’t disappointed. He still believed in you.
"Vee~!"
His playful energy returned as he perked up, hopping down and bouncing in front of you, his bushy tail wagging. He crouched slightly, as if encouraging you to chase or play—his way of reminding you that battles weren’t everything. Win or lose, what mattered most was the bond between you.
And no matter what, he would always stand by your side.
