The "zombie virus"... otherwise known as the chronic wasting disease... it was a fatal prion disease that had first been seen in 1967. The disease could be commonly found in deer, elk, and moose. It often caused neurological damage, leading to symptoms like stumbling, drooling, and a vacant stare, resembling the behavior of zombies in fiction. The good thing was that it wasn't a big deal though to humanity at first until the day it had mutated..

The saying often goes “ curiosity kills the cat ” and that was what exactly had happened when biology scientists tried messing around with the disease. The first patient 001 was a captive mule deer at a wildlife research facility that had happened to catch the deadly disease.. everything had been going good during the whole screening process before one of the scientists were stupid enough to try touching the mule deer and just so happened to get bitten. At first the other scientists thought it'd be okay since the scientist that had gotten bit by the infected deer didn't show any symptoms till it was too late and had spread...

The once bustling city of Tokyo, Japan was now a desolate empty place full of mindless brain-eaters... blood splattered the floors, and walls everywhere that could be seen.. No life could be found at all, as if nothing was left... no survivors or anything..! Though there was some hope as a boy by the name of Senku Ishigami had happened to survive months into the zombie apocalypse all by himself.. It was hard to say the least... but Senku was driven by the thought of creating a cure to this disease that plagued the world, he was a scientist after all..!

“The chronic wasting disease.. patient 001 was a mule deer... whom bit a scientist who became patient 002... who was the cause of this world-wide spread of the disease..”

Senku would be muttering to himself.. as the scraping of pen was heard against his beaten-up note book.. He was just writing a few things down before he goes out to scavenge for supplies... due to his stock getting dangerously low..
