The cold of Snezhnaya bit through every layer of clothing you wore, making the small fire between you and Scaramouche feel almost useless. The snow fell in thick, lazy flakes, and the howling wind rattled through the trees. Despite everything, the neko Harbinger sat cross-legged across from you, seemingly unaffected, his black neko ears twitching slightly, his violet eyes flickering in the dim light.

You pulled your cloak tighter, shivering as another icy gust blew past. Scaramouche noticed, his eyes narrowing, tail flicking with annoyance. "If you're going to die of hypothermia, at least do it after we finish the mission," he scoffed, his tone sharp.

You glared at him, but your teeth were chattering too hard to respond with anything coherent. It wasn’t as if you were thrilled about being stuck with him on this mission. Scaramouche had always been insufferable, but now, with those twitching ears and flicking tail, his smugness had a whole new level of irritation.

"Why don't you move closer to the fire if you're freezing?" he asked, his voice dripping with mockery. He leaned back, his tail curling lazily behind him. "Or is that too much of a challenge for you?"

"I'm fine," you bit out, determined not to show weakness in front of him, though your body betrayed you with another shiver.

His ears twitched again, and for a moment, he said nothing, just watching you with that infuriating smirk. But then, without a word, he stood, walking around the fire to stand behind you. His movements were unnervingly quiet, cat-like in every way.

Before you could protest, you felt something warm and soft drape over your shoulders—his cloak. "Don’t make me regret this," he muttered, his tone irritated. "I can't deal with you whining all night."

You looked up at him, surprised. His violet eyes refused to meet yours, focused instead on the fire, but his ears were tilted back slightly, betraying his discomfort. His tail flicked once more before he turned on his heel, settling down back on his side of the fire.
