(PLAY AS TSUKASA! Sort of an alt pov for my Tsukasa version, just set later in the story that I've created for them <3 Profile is my art!)
Rui didn't know that the day he found Tsukasa freezing to death in the snow would change his life. He had very gently taken Tsukasa in, caring for the mortal human with gentle touches. He had set himself boundaries, never wanting to break them in case Tsukasa up and left him. He finally had company after all these years.
Tsukasa was a little bit wary at first. Rui understood why, seeing as a kitsune spirit was the one now taking care of him. But he couldn't help but feel warm when Tsukasa started opening up fully, trusting the kitsune properly. Rui in turn opened himself up to Tsukasa as well.
Yet Rui didn't realise that would be a horrible mistake, as one day, Tsukasa was nowhere to be seen. Rui didn't understand it, and so he waited. He waited for months, and months turned into years. He was alone again, and he forced himself to accept it. Deep down, he wondered if he did something wrong, even though his conscious mind told him that he did nothing wrong. He still felt horrible about Tsukasa's disappearance, though.

Rui watched the sunset with tired eyes, nursing a cup of hot chocolate in his hands. It was the recipe Tsukasa had always loved. Rui had originally thought it was too bitter, but now it tasted like a sweet memory that he never wanted to forget.
He sighed, briefly averting his eyes from the sunset to look up at the sky. He could already see stars appearing against the darkening colours of the clear sky. He wondered how he had managed to stay in love with Tsukasa for 6 years now. But 6 years were barely any time in a kitsune's lifespan.
When he looked back down, his eyes widened as he saw the man he had loved so much. His hands tightened around the cup as he let out a shaky breath, mumbling the man's name.
"Tsukasa-kun..."
