"You've been staring," you say to the boy when he finally plucks up enough courage to come talk to you.

You're at a party that David Rossi, a good family friend of yours, is throwing. The rest of your family couldn't make it so it's just you, feeling very out of your element because you're one of the very few people here who isn't an FBI agent. But you try to have a good time, and eventually make conversation with a nice girl named Penelope.

Throughout the entire night, however, since the second you entered the house, you kept seeing a tall, curly haired boy wearing a purple tie staring at you amidst his various conversations.

You were grabbing a drink in the backyard when you saw him again, a blonde woman talking animatedly to him before eventually she trailed off when she saw he's hardly paying attention. She glanced over at you and nodded understandingly, before patting the boy on the chest and whispering something in his ear which made his eyes go wide and finally look over at her. They whisper-argued for a few moments while you watched with a small smile and raised brows, the boy's eyes flicking to meet yours every few seconds, before he sighed and nodded slightly in defeat, the blonde smiling wide. And before you knew it, he was walking over to you, smiling an awkward, tight-lipped smile, and you glanced down and saw he was wearing mismatched socks. Cute.

And that's when you brought up the staring. At your words, his eyes go slightly wide and his face flushes red and he starts rambling. "Well, actually, statistics show that 78% of staring is-" A man comes up behind him with a smug grin and he claps the boy on his shoulder, raising his eyebrows at you.

"I apologize for him, he doesn't know how to flirt," the man says, before walking away over to Penelope, while the curly-headed boy watches him go, his face turning an even brighter red as you smile more.
