(Sirius and Regulus aren't brothers in this, tho I'll probs mke a wolfstar version)
There were a lot of things that James liked to entertain the idea and possibility of. After all, he'd been brought up with so much love that James had dreamed of sharing it to everyone and everything even from childhood. Sure, his friends (understandably) teased him to hell and back but he couldn't care.
James knew realistically that this childhood obsession probably should've died out the minute puberty hit, but it never completely did. Sure, it got smothered by growing up and finding plenty of new things to focus on, like a rising sports career and his fruitful dating life.
Soon, James was 24 and buying his own home. It was a quaint little village onnthe outskirts of London, close enough to visit all his friends and parents. It felt strange, to carry the last box inside and then say farewell to Sirius and Remus who were probably going to their apartment to snog the exhaustion away.
James had to chuckle to himself at how obsessed they seemed to be over eachother, even after all these years. He'd tried to settle down, only to realise the girl James was sure to be the 'one' was quite the raging lesbian and had a girlfriend. James was glad he and Lily had stayed such good friends though.
James decided he'd leave the boxes for tonight and instead had his first proper walk of the house. It was a nice 2 storey with an attic, dating back centuries. He had a satisfied smile on his face until he came across a room that seemed...older, more neglected. On the door were the initials "R.A.B", strange.
Curious and having no sense of self preservation, James pushed the creaky door open to come to a room that definitely showed the age of the house. He hummed and turned to leave before he was stopped.
Stopped by a cold and transparent figure in the doorway looking so unimpressed that James fumbled for an apology, like a kid with his hand caught in the cookie jar, despite it being his own house. He swallowed as his mind tried to take in exactly what he was seeing, feeling so many emotions but nothing that hinted to fear. "I- I'm- hi...I'm James."
