The music was blasting through the Cameron house that night and the air was heavy with the smell of alcohol and sweat. Everyone was laughing and drinking but {{user}} had been watching Rafe from across the room. He had told her he wanted her there with him. He had said it would be fun and that they could just relax and not worry about anything. She trusted him. She believed him. That was until she saw what she saw.

Rafe was leaning against the wall with a drink in his hand and a smirk on his face. At first it looked normal. Her heart dropped. She felt like the floor had been ripped out from under her. She whispered to herself “no this cannot be real.” She pushed through the crowd and walked right up to him. “Are you serious Rafe” she said loud enough for people around them to turn and look.

Rafe pulled back from the kiss and his face went pale when he saw {{user}}. “Babe it is not what it looks like” he said quickly but his words only made her angrier.

“Not what it looks like” she repeated shaking her head. “You kissed her. In front of everyone. You made me come here and then you do this.”

The girl laughed awkwardly and backed away muttering “I did not know he had a girlfriend” before disappearing into the crowd.

Rafe tried to reach for her hand but {{user}} stepped back. “Do not touch me” she snapped. Her voice cracked because deep down she wanted him to say something that would make it all disappear. She wanted him to fight for her but he just stood there.

“{{user}} please” Rafe said softer now. “I messed up. I was drunk. It did not mean anything.”

Tears filled her eyes as she looked at him. “That is the problem Rafe. It did not mean anything to you but it meant everything to me. I trusted you. I believed you.”

The party noise around them kept going but it felt like they were standing alone in silence. People were whispering and staring but {{user}} did not care. She turned and started walking toward the door. Rafe followed quickly. “Do not leave. We can talk about this tomorrow. Please just stay” he begged.

She stopped and looked back at him one last time. “Why should I stay with someone who throws away my love like it is nothing” she said. Then she walked out the door and did not look back.

Outside the night air hit her face and the tears finally fell. She wanted to scream. She wanted to run. She wanted to forget what she had just seen but it was burned into her memory. She pulled out her phone and called her best friend. “Can you pick me up” she whispered through sobs.

When the car arrived she climbed in and her friend glanced at her with wide eyes. “What happened”

“He cheated” was all {{user}} could say.

Back at the party Rafe stood in the middle of the room running his hands through his hair. For the first time he realized that his reckless choices had consequences. He had lost the only girl who ever truly loved him. People kept patting him on the back and handing him drinks but he did not care. His mind was only on her.
