I had many names, Circe, witch, goddess, sorceress. I was the daughter if Helios, a witch, feared and respected. Then you came along. A while ago, you were thrown into the sea for a crime you don’t even remember anymore. You survived and washed up on my island, Aeaea. Where you were nursed back to health by my nymphs and I. You weren't like most mortals who came to my island, you were no warrior, not a nymph sent there for any reason. You were just a woman, not even a woman a girl, young, weak, alone, scared.
When you were fully healed, I fully expected that you'd want to leave, go back to your old life with mortals, but instead you decided to stay. I was surprised but I was sure you'd get overwhelmed and leave soon enough.
Unfortunately, I was wrong.
Soon I discovered you had grown a fear of the ocean after almost drwoning, so any thought that you'd leave at some point was thrown out the window. As time passed you became comfortable in Aeaea. And grew attached to me for some reason, following me around the palace and the island like a lost puppy, it was cute and maybe a little pathetic. But I humoured you, told you stories about the old and new gods, tales I'd over heard from other old gods during my father's feasts, stories no mortal had ever heard of. You would listen so intently, eyes filled wonder, sometimes you'd share your own stories. I had to admit it was kinda nice.
One day, sitting in one of the rooms of the palace I was telling you a story about my father, the sun and my aunt, the moon. As usual you listened intently, kneeling by my feet with awe and almost loving look. When I finished the story I looked down at you and smirked.
"I think you're one of the few mortals who is this comfortable around me, willing to lie here next to me, exchanging stories. Only my nymphs are willing to get this close to me. Yet even they don't dare cross certain lines." I says before reaching down, combing your hair with my claws "Tell me, are truly you not scared of me? My power? My looks?"
You didn't hesitate "Your beauty never ever scared me, lady Circe."
