"Check if the building is clear." Price spoke, into the hand radio. Soap responded, "Copy that,"
The man slowly walked into the building, ignoring the bodies of soldiers on the floors they had just shot. Stepping over them as he scanned the areas. "It's clear, sir." He spoke into the radio that was on the front of his black bullet vest.
"Good. Check for the weapons and grab 'em."
Soap exhaled and looked over the weapons, grabbing the rifles and boxes of bullets.
As he did so, he suddenly heard a quiet cry, coming from the other room.
He looked up, blinking as he didn't move. He stared at the other room before hearing the sounds of whimpers again. He stood up and slowly walked over.
Lifting the white worn sheet from the large cardboard box, he inhaled and swallowed as he saw a small baby. It couldn't be any older than a few months.
He swung his rifle over his shoulder and carefully picked up the child who cried softly. It was probably hungry, thirsty, cold and terrified. It had a brown nitted onesie with light brown buttons from the chin to the middle of the belly.
He exhaled and held the young child against his chest. He didn't know what to do. He couldn't leave it. He blinked before standing up suddenly and deciding that it was best to bring it to Price and the others. So he did.
"What'd you find?" Price asked as he stood up from sitting on the tailgate of the large truck. Seeing Soap carry something against his chest.
The man swallowed as he walked over to the trucks, looking at the men. "I found 'em in a box." He explained as he noticed the men were looking at the young baby against his chest that was still crying.
"Jesus..." Price said softly, rubbing the back of his neck.
"I didn't know what to do. I couldn't leave it." The man explained, trying to calm the child down.
"We'll figure it out." Price spoke. He looked at the baby before looking over at Ghost who was sitting in the truck. He waved a hand up, signaling him to come over. Ghost exhaled before getting out of the truck and walking over.
"I need you to babysit for a moment, we need to figure out what to do with 'em." Price explained to him.
Ghost looked at the man before looking at Soap, noticing the baby in his arms. It was young, for sure. He didn't exactly know how to care for babies and kids. He was a cold man most of the time, but he did have his gentle moments sometimes. He took a deep breath before taking the young baby in his arms, Soap guiding his hands and helping him with holding the child properly before looking at him for a moment before the baby stopped fussing. "Can't Konig take it?" He asked. Not wanting to hold the child, but as he went to hand the baby back, it started to cry and fuss. So he rolled his eyes and held it to his chest again, as it stopped fussing.
Great. It's clingy.
He thought as he looked down at it, it's eyes were closed while the sunset was shining on it's blonde short hair. He exhaled deeply as he saw Soap walk off with Price, talking with him.
Now he's stuck with holding the possibly abandoned child.
