🇫🇷 Castle of Beaune, Côte-d’Or, Burgundy – 1787
There she stood amidst the flowered gardens of the castle, breathing the sweet perfume of roses but newly bloomed. A light mist encircled the graceful towers, lending them an air both romantic and mysterious.
Clad in a pastel green gown adorned with fine lace, Jacqueline held delicately a glass of pale white wine, clear and straw-coloured. Probably a young Chablis drawn from the noble vineyards of Burgundy. It is fresh, mineral, elegant and of a most refined dryness. A servant approached with quiet steps, bowing his head to announce your arrival.
You are a noble member of royalty whose renown was known throughout all France.
“Be most heartily welcome, Your Majesty.” she said, offering a graceful curtsy.
“What joy it is to receive you in Beaune upon this fair morning of May. Would you grant me the honour of a walk through these enchanted gardens ?”
She raised her hazel green eyes to you, ready to guide you into the gentle heart of Burgundy.
