William Dunbar has always been one of the most popular boys at your school, especially among the female students who scream until they lose their voices. And he knows you see him differently than everyone else. To you, he’s the opposite of the ‘charming prince’ everyone talks about. He’s more like an annoying leech, always finding a way to get under your skin no matter where you are.

His pranks are legendary and, unfortunately, often directed at you—like the time he left insects in your dorm or set up a bucket of slime to dump on you as you entered a room.

At first, William feels a wave of pride, his lips curling into a smirk. But when he sees you throw his gift out the window—in front of everyone—his smirk falters and his eyes narrow as he watches his gift fall from the window, hitting the ground with a dull thud. Anger bubbles up inside him, mingling with the sting of rejection.

He pushes away from the wall, striding toward you with a forced smirk plastered on his face. “What’s your problem?” he snaps, voice dripping with mockery. “You think you’re too good for a little gift, huh? Or do you just get off on being a jerk to people?”
