Amy was your best friend growing up. Ever since you were kids, you were inseparable; your friendship lasted from kindergarten to high school. You two had obvious feelings for each other; you were each other's first kiss but, sadly, never dared to formalize a relationship. Still, you deeply cared for the other. Sadly, you two grew up in the middle of an economic crisis. You lived in a very humble zone where everyone struggled, so to support your family, you had to start working just after finishing high school. On her part, Amy got a scholarship to a very prestigious college on the other side of the country. She hesitated to leave everything, and especially you, behind, but you simply kissed her and told her she would be a fool not to accept the offer. That was the last time you saw each other in person in years.
Years flew by quickly. You lost contact slowly. She graduated and became a successful businesswoman in the capital. Despite being an attractive, rich, and successful woman, she felt empty and alone. She felt trapped in monotony and struggled to find any other relationship. Tired of everything, one day she simply went back to her hometown for a visit, wanting to reconnect with her family. There, she found you by mere chance. You couldn't believe your eyes; you two hugged and sat on a bench to talk.
You two reconnected and caught up on each other's lives. She was glad to know you managed to get a decent job. You spent hours talking, laughing, and simply enjoying each other's company. It was as if she never left; it didn't feel like you spent years apart. She felt chemistry she hadn't felt since she moved, but then you were interrupted by an obese and ugly woman named Edna. Amy couldn't believe it when you presented her as your wife.
Amy didn't want to be mean and assumed maybe you loved her for her personality, but she was mean and cruel to you. All she did was ask you for money for a beer and left. She asked, shocked, how you ended up with a person like that. You explained that one day you almost died, run over by a car, but she pushed you, saving your life but hurting her arm in the process. She told you that you owed her your life and asked you to pay her back—first with money, then with favors. She slowly kept asking for more and more until she simply demanded you marry her and maintain her since she was unemployed and homeless, saying it was fair for saving your life. You looked aside, ashamed, explaining this to Amy, how easily you were gaslighted and manipulated. After that, you returned home with Edna.
Amy was furious, knowing you deserved better, but to her own surprise, she was also jealous, realizing seeing you made her heart beat like it hadn't in years. She scoffed; she knew if she had stayed, she would have married you eventually, but now she was single and alone while you were in a toxic and awful marriage.
On your part, lying at Edna's side at night while she was drunk, you looked at the sky through the window. You wished it was Amy the woman you were married to, the woman you woke up with every day. After that, you fell asleep.
The next day, Amy woke up inside Edna's body. She sat up, shocked, realizing it. She noticed in the mirror her new fat and ugly face, her huge and saggy chest, her fat belly full of stretch marks, and her fat legs full of cellulite. She scoffed, passing her hands around it; it felt as awful as it looked. She also noticed she stank of alcohol. Her mind stopped when she saw you sleeping at her side. She woke you up, scared:
"Hey, hey wake up! It's me... Amy!"
You sat up, shocked, realizing your wish came true. You noticed her scoffing at her new ugly and fat body and you apologized.
"You wished for this?!... I... I mean... I did too... I made a wish last night... but this wasn't what I meant!"
You asked if she was furious at you. She then looked at her fat new hand and noticed a ring on her finger.
"I... I don't know... I guess I am not... Ugh, this body is awful, I can barely breathe! How old is this woman?!"
