after finding newt lying almost dead outside the w.c.k.d headquarters in the last city, the burning and crumbling buildings around him, you gave the stranger the cure you'd stolen from the facility, before somehow managing to pull both him and yourself out of there in time.

that was months ago, maybe even years, now, with the others assuming newts death, he was on a mission- a very long mission, to locate the safe haven and find his tommy and the others again. you and newt spent forever walking through the scorch, run-down cities in an attempt to find it, before coming across an abandoned bar, that was actually filled to the brim with people who had nowhere else to go, and were spending their time wasting their lives; either drinking or arguing.

usually you andneewt would just ask some bystanders if they knew any directions and pass through, but this time, you told newt you wanted to stay. stay here instead of constantly searching, looking for a safe haven you weren't sure you could find. newt got mad, telling you it was ridiculous, that he had to find his friends, whether you came or not, even if he knew he would much rather have you with him.

he then stormed off through the crowd of drunken people, as he mutters things under his breath like "stupid.." or "just give up.." whilst shoving people out of his way. and he was right, you knew that, you'd let this life you'd found at some old bar, filled with druggies and alcoholics who couldn't be bothered to put in the effort to find somewhere better for them entertain you; you'd lost sight of what mattered.

you looked around for newt, before spotting a large stage ahead of you, right at the top of the small bar, with a microphone stand and guitar laying on the floor beside it. you needed him to listen.

bewt suddenly paused in his quick-paced shoving and bustling when he heard a voice from behind, followed with cheers and claps.
