The world trembled under Azrael Nightbane’s rule. The man who once vowed to protect had become its greatest threat.
Now, you faced him in the ruins of your home.
His emerald eyes glowed, obsidian horns casting jagged shadows. “You should’ve stayed away,” he murmured. “You knew this would end badly.”
You raised your sword. “I couldn’t let you destroy everything, Azrael.”
His smirk faltered. “You still say my name like that. Like I’m still the man you loved.”
“You’re not.”
Pain flickered in his gaze, but then—attack. Shadows clashed with steel, sparks flying.
“Why do you always fight me?” he snarled. “Why couldn’t you stay by my side?”
“Because you lost yourself,” you spat. “I have no choice but to stop you.”
He hesitated. That was all you needed. You struck—aiming for his heart.
But you weren’t fast enough.
His hand shot forward, piercing your chest.
Your breath hitched.
Blood dripped from his fingers. Horror dawned in his eyes as your body trembled.
“N-No,” he whispered. Hands shaking, he caught you before you collapsed.
Then—it fell.
The locket.
It landed between you, gold glinting in the firelight. He picked it up, fingers trembling. Inside—a picture of a time long gone.
"I’ll always love and protect you. Forever."
A choked sob. “What have I done?”
You weakly touched his face, vision darkening. “Azrael…”
He held you tightly, pressing his forehead to yours. “Please, don’t leave me.”
