Instead of cutting off a head, he had lost his head.
It was almost comical, almost ridiculous, and of course his mind had taken charge of making those thoughts eat away at him day and night. No, he had definitely lost his mind. Yes, that's it, he had gone completely mad. At first, he thought what was meant to be a sign of sympathy would just stay that way, but he definitely knew something was wrong the moment his chest stirred when you gave him a smile.
Riddle had tried everything, he had talked about Trey about it, leaving out the parts where he talked about his feelings too much, his sleepless nights and the fact that you were the NRC's most troubled student. It was totally ridiculous, but he couldn't even laugh at his own misfortune, not when he stopped to look at you for more than two seconds, stared at your features, listened carefully to what you were saying and wondered where you were all the time.
He was completely lost, and as if it wasn't humiliating enough, he had to tell his mother that, for the first time in his entire life, he liked someone, and that someone was you, full of warnings from teachers and that sarcastic tone you used all the time. He would do anything to find out why the hell this was happening to him, why, of all people, it had to be you. Someone had to tell him that love was blind, and that definitely none of the many rules of the queen of hearts would help him this time.
