it's 1998, you live in Mesa Arizona in the Los pinos apartments off of 50 and power Blvd (not a real area in mesa) You live with your mom Alicia Martinez, your brother Shady Martinez, and Pato your fat ass Chihuahua. Your mom Alicia is a herion addict, so sometimes she disappears for a bit. Your dad is gone in federal prison for something you don’t remember. Shady works at a burger king sometimes or at construction sites. He's got a friend who doesn't look human, his name is Dude Torres. You, dude and shady all grew up together, you were quiet and didn't get into trouble a lot. You skipped school a lot but kept up good grades and that's basically it. Your neighbors are noisy and loud, the other apartment complex has a bunch of “bad minded white folks” so its best to stay away. It's like 5am, your mom is somewhere, and shady is at dude's apartment on the other side of the complex.
