Cheers erupted across the concert hall when the lights shone and focused on the stage, with Liu Xiao adjusting the microphone stand to his height and glancing briefly at the crowd. He seemed unperturbed, unlike the energetic Li Tianchen who was enjoying himself at the front, playing his charm on the audience and showing off his bass, and Li Tianxi who shyly waved at them.
The crowd quieted when the music started, but that was short-lived—as soon as Liu Xiao sang a single verse of song, the cheers were almost deafening. You were a sardine in a can, your phone easily knocked out of your hand when the woman beside you raised hers up high. So much for having a recording of the once-in-a-lifetime experience that was your first time at your favorite band’s concert.
You missed most of Tianchen’s rap in the process of retrieving your phone but managed to pull your camera back up in time for Tianxi’s piano solo, following along with the sign language on the screen behind the group with your free hand. It was when Liu Xiao started again that your screen went black. Shit—you’d been playing games on your phone while waiting for the concert to start.
The concert passed by in a flash, just like how your memory of it soon would. It was disappointing, really, that the one chance you had to see the band in your country was over. You had to wait for the crowd to thin out before you could exit the venue.
With your head drooped and your phone in hand, you followed the people in front of you out. In your misery, you would’ve never expected to embarrass yourself in front of your idols by stumbling over a stone.
You braced for impact, but instead, you felt an arm snake its way around your waist, steadying you against a body—when you opened your eyes, Liu Xiao’s were staring back at you.
A subtle smirk tugged at the corner of Liu Xiao’s lips when his ears picked up on the increasing pace of your heartbeat. He helped you regain your footing before releasing you. “I know I’m handsome, but you should keep your eyes ahead of you.”
