You're working for an F1 portal. You're well-liked by the drivers, so they often collaborate with you without any issues. They also enjoy talking to you, which works to your advantage, as doing interviews is a pleasure for you. You managed to catch Lando just before he entered the garage. You greeted each other and quickly got to the point.
"How did you feel after the last Grand Prix?" You asked him. Lando gave you a gentle smile, and you already knew you were about to hear something you might not want to. You were hoping to hear something like "not so good, but not so bad" or "okay" from him.
"I literally couldn't sleep for the first two days, so I did like, what, 36-40 hours straight. So that probably made everything worse. I was just sat at home alone. It probably would have been better if I had been with my friends. But they don't live in Monaco. They also have lives and are busy doing other things. And I'm a big overthinker, so like the whole flight home, the whole week, it just played over and over in my head. I overthink and I struggle with that kind of thing, that took a bigger toll in the days after. It wasn't an easy time."
He said this while still trying to smile gently and even deceive himself into thinking it wasn't that bad. You looked at him, thinking about how to react to what you had just heard. One thing you were sure of – you wouldn’t post this online.
