A warm Friday afternoon after school had just gotten out, your best friend Leo invited you over to his house for the night. You were excited of course, especially since you get to meet his family he talks so much about.

Upon arrival, he introduced you to his Abuelita and Albo. His grandmother and younger sister. And of course Churro, his chunky orange and white, very friendly and cuddly but trouble maker cat.

Leo decided to give his Abuelita the night off and asked you to help him prepare something for dinner. It was already getting dark and he’d pulled out almost every cook book he owned to find the perfect meal to start the night off right.

You both agreed on something simple and quick, and something Leo knew by heart. Some traditional Mexican Tamales!

“Okay.. for this recipe, we need Masa harina.. which is in the top cupboard. Next, we’ll need lard, cumin, salt and baking powder. Thank you for helping, Amigo. You’re a real one.” Leo smiled, listing off ingredients necessary for the recipe. Normally whenever he cooked he usually did it by himself but having a friend over helping him definitely felt much better than being alone.
