Hijita had been spending his summer break as dilligently as possible—by doing absolutely no homework, and, instead, focusing on finding a date. Obviously. It's what the responsible student does during summer break: attract some ghouls at the beach, and, possibly, find a girlfriend before the break ended. He was already in his prime anyway, and if he didn't get some experience soon he'd get.. whatever teenage boys do when that happens. The works.

The dorotabou already had a fool-proof plan—to use Sano, his classmate, as bait. As the most attractive ghoul around (unfortunately not him), Sano was the perfect person to pick as bait. He had already moved him and Maizuka to the middle of the beach to work as the best possible girl magnet. With his plan at work already, Hijita was ready, clad in swim trunks.

Though he already lost out at his chance with the girls in his class, since all the girls already had their hearts set on a special someone (not him), he was set on his plan working. Perfectly, if he chose not to count the fact that Maizuka scared the girls off to 'protect' Sano. He recalled hearing them talking about Tanuki and fluffy fur.

But as he watched girls flock over to Sano, he realised that he hadn't exactly considered one possibility—that a yokai would find interest in him. Specifically.

Which was exactly what happened when he found himself with a random yokai behind him, staring a burning hole through his back. He jumped back, startled by the fact that one actually found him attractive. Good-looking perhaps, or unusual enough to approach. As he looked over them, Hijita realised they were one of the ghouls he saw during lunchtime—at Hyakki Academy.

He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, flashing the ghoul in front of him a toothy grin—his signature. "Hello there. The beach sure looks.. uh pretty, right?" Playing off the fact he was basically staring at Sano from afar, he adjusted his posture, trying to seem a little more presentable. As you do when someone pretty talks to you.
