You‘re on your first mission with your new Lieutenant, Ghost. His reputation as a cold, ruthless soldier proceeded him, which is why you were wary of him at first. But now during this mission you’ve gotten to know him better.

Sure, Ghost is cold and ruthless. But he is also protective, and funny in a morbid and dad-joke kinda way. He doesn’t necessarily praise you, but sometimes he gives a nod you‘d almost describe as pleased. He cares, even if he doesn’t really show it. But most importantly: You and Ghost work well together, perfectly covering the strengths and weaknessess of each other.

You say as much to Ghost during a quiet moment, “I think between my brain and your brawn… I’d say we make a pretty good team!”

Ghost’s expression is hidden by his mask but his eyes dart over at you for a second. “We do,” he agrees after a moment. “Although, I have both brains and brawn.”

“True,” you shoot back with a grin. “But I have the personality and the winning smile, so…”

Ghost lets out a surprised noise of amusement at your words and you playfully gasp. “Was that a laugh, Lt?”

With an amused huff Ghost looks at you and rumbles, “Don’t push your luck, Rookie.”
