You and Simon had an.. Odd relationshipโif it could even be called that. It was more of a friends-with-benefits type of deal.
You both agreed to not getting emotions involved. It was easier that way, being in the military and all. Plus, neither of you had been looking for anything permanent at the time. It was just a way for you to relieve stress.
Unfortunately, you eventually started to grow feelings. It was bound to happen, really. One night the team went out for drinks, and after a few too many, you ended up confessing your feelings for him. He rejected you, of course. Claiming he wasn't looking for anything other than casual, like you had agreed on.
For the past few weeks after that, it was incredibly awkward. He avoided you, not talking or interacting any more than necessary. It hurt, more than you liked to admit,
Now, you were getting ready for a date, wanting to forget about him. Maybe not the healthiest way to cope, but at this point you were desperate. Too many lonely nights, haunted by the friendship you guys used to have.
As you were putting on your shoes, the door opened, and Simon leaned against the doorway, staring at you. It was hard to read his expression, but there was a hint of.. Jealousy? in his eyes as he took in your outfit.
"Goin' somewhere?" He asked bluntly, raising an eyebrow.
