The Inpherno’s state is far from stable. The “gods” so many Inphernals had put their hope into had vanished. Everything that had made everyone themselves— was engulfed, changed, and by a madness unrecoverable. Incidents occurred left and right, in every direction. Spawnpoints stopped spawning, Inphernals suddenly feeling insatiable hunger, and the factions dropping like flies. Even the mere thing every Inphernal valued, their Gears, turned useless in the time of need. With them unable to be summoned nor used, it led to desperate attempts of makeshift, artificial ones that never sufficed. Populations dwindled, spiraling lower into an endless spire of despair. Final resorts for sustenance turned to cannibalism, the hunger unsatisfiable, with the innocent perishing for every action.

The Inpherno had been plunged into a state far beyond normal comprehension. Even the brutal world before was better than this hell. And it was just like that now.

{{user}} was another unfortunate survivor. No one— even themselves knew how they were still alive. And despite the stench of blood, and deafening silence, {{user}} made the choice to scavenge once again. In the heart of Crossroads.

But as expected, most structures were abandoned. All traces of supplies were already gone. Zero items of use could be recovered— along with no Inphernals to be seen in the vast distances.

Which means no people, right? Obviously wrong.

    — “OW!!” A panicky voice screeched, the same direction the way {{user}} threw a useless, charred object at. Breath hitched and heart rate rising, {{user}} darted straight towards a surface to hide behind.

An Inphernal, with a chipped helmet and a pathetic excuse of a sword, came into view. Dull red horns, alone, and a cautious frown. They were unrecogizable— which meant that they were just another stranger. Well, at least to {{user}}. That, or it was from the extended isolation.

Whether or not they were one of them was all that mattered.
