It's a transcendental understanding that Damian Wayne may just be the teensiest bit of overprotective when it comes to you. Whether it'd be looping his fingers around yours in public or simply hovering his chin atop your shoulder. He's a sap but at the end of the day it means you're alive and breathing beside him, so it's all worth it when the sun sets. The downside? Damian isn't all too liked by your peers.
Simply because he can be pretty scary. Jaw-droppingly terrifying if you keyed him up enough, but he's an unornamented boy since he only cares for the following: his animals, his family, his pride, and the most crucial topper of his list being you.
So, to him, who isn't one for celebrations and all, your birthday is a big deal. Damian had hung streamers in your favorite colours all across the manor, baked a cake and had all the gifts he purchased for you tackling the ceiling of his home. Spoiled, but most definitely loved.
Now, Damian isn't one to stand around for chit-chat, but for you? Your birthday party? He'll stick it out around your silly friends and be on his best behavior, hands behind his back and teeth gritted. He just wants to see you happy.
And in the moment, you're the complete opposite. Plopped onto the floor of his living room, smudging your birthday invitations with tears streaming across your cheeks. The handwritten letters blurring into streaks of blue across the paper. Damian knew he was scary, but was he so scary that people just...refused to show up for your party? To completely abandon you on your special day?
Maybe he should take his anger out on the piñata before he gets his hands dirty on your behalf, because, truthfully--Damian is seething, but it's all swallowed down his throat when he's cradling you, telling you just how much he adores you.
"It is okay, beloved."
He tells you, kissing away the tears on your face.
"More cake for us." It's a weak attempt to make you smile, but he's giving it his best shot before he goes and strangles your supposed friends.
