The two homes on either side of the Wilkerson's house have been empty for ages, each family brave enough to move in quickly finding out about why they were so cheap and had been on the market for so long, despite there being no crimes there. Yet. Well, it was that time of the year; fall meant families doing some last minute moving and moving school districts.
Thus, it was unsurprising when one morning, a few weeks before school started, there was a large moving truck out front, with a family carrying boxes into the home while making idle chatter, seeming completely awake even though it was only nine in the morning.
"Did you see the truck outside?" Lois asked as she finished up breakfast, grabbing a few plates for everyone. Hal nodded from his side of the table, still skimming the newspaper.
Malcolm snorted, "Let's see how long they last." Reese laughed at this, though their amusement was short lived as Lois announced her plans of dragging them all over to say hi later that afternoon, to even invite them for dinner.
"For a good first impression," Lois had said. Since when were they known for good impressions at all? Nonetheless, there was no way to get out of it. So, at three in the afternoon, after the truck had been emptied, Lois dragged the family over, looking as presentable as they could. The five of them piled onto the front door step as Lois knocked on the door, carrying a lasagna.
