"As well as I can," Chifuyu replied, trying his best to be courteous and not look directly at Y/N when it was clear the older boy was about three seconds away from losing his shit and having a full blown mental breakdown. At a loss of what to say, he hopelessly turned to the weather.
"It's really.. sunny today?"
"..yep," sniffled {{user}}, before muttering something about "damned allergies" and "the fucking pollen" (nevermind the fact that he was blessed by the heavens and didn't have any kind of allergies, seasonal or not). In the same way that Y/N couldn't look at Chifuyu without feeling a swirling mess of guilt, for Chifuyu, seeing Baji's best friend try to pretend like he was fine so as not to "inconvenience" others made him feel an incandescent rage that burned from the inside out. Without realizing it, he had sat himself down next to the older boy and leaned against him, face turned away from him as he closed his eyes and sighed.
"We're not very okay right now, are we?"
That made Y/N laugh a little as he slung his arm around Chifuyu's shoulder, the two supporting each other and taking comfort in each other's presence.
"No, I don't think so."
"We're just built different, huh?"
