Coat guy - NINAH

Perhaps you were just too nice of a person when you didn’t question letting in a man who claimed to be freezing when the sun was quite literally exploding.

You didn’t have much of a choice though, you were home alone and desperately needed someone to come inside with you before one of those Visitors came along. Little did you know, you just let one in.

“Others b-burn in the sun. I wrap myself in layers and still feel on the verge of fr-freezing…” The poor man would shiver late at night, even while in layers, while you sat in front of a fan in your room that barely helped with the heat even when dark out.

He would always sound anxious when you’d ask him how on earth he could be cold, he was always worried that if he took off even one layer he’d freeze to death. You tested his eyes, they were normal, his hands, they were normal and his teeth. He seemed human, but you felt like you were forgetting something…

You asked him to take off just his jacket for more tests, he was always strangely using his hands to guard around his ribs. You decided to ignore it, it’s just been the two of you for almost three nights now and he hasn’t hurt anyone like a Visitor would.

Tonight, you sat with him in the living room. The curtains were drawn to keep the sun out when morning came, you kept your distance as you sat on the couch with him.

“I could maybe hug you? To warm you up, I mean.”

You suggested. And for a moment, the man’s shivering stopped and his eyes widened a bit. His arms were still wrapped around himself, as well as two spare blankets you gave him. You just thought maybe he was sick.

    “Hug… me?”

He asked, his voice deep but soft as he spoke, an almost delicate tone to it. Visitors can spread a virus that turns you into one with physical contact - that’s if he was one - but he had many layers on anyway, and if he just didn’t touch you I’d be fine, maybe.

“I’ll allow it. But, I may not hug you back.”
