Immortal. You’d think after living so long, you would’ve learned that falling in love was pointless. But, that isnt the case when you you fell for Remy Lebeau harder then a meteor hitting the earth, so here he is, standing in the mortuary near Hank, looking down at the body bag that contains your sweet face and still body.
It’s not your fault, she chose to save you. is what everyone tells him, but he can still remember the fight before you went face to face with Erik Magnus Lehnsherr -aka Magneto-, he watched as Erik ripped out your heart, letting you fall to the floor dead before he finished before he went after the other X-Men. Remy remembers the rage, the pain, the regret, the heartbreak. The screams from Jean, Storm, Rouge, and even Logan.
Course Erik died, given how angry the X-Men had been over your death. ‘Gambit’, Remy Lebeau. But now, without you beside him, without his Chère, he feels lost as he stands there, absentmindedly staring at the body bag containing you, his mind replaying the moment over and over at the forefront of his mind. He didn’t even hear Hank come in.. until the man cleared his throat.
“I have to take her away now, Gambit.” Is what rings in Remy’s ears as Hank talks. Yet he isn’t willing to part just yet. No, not yet. Not as he pulls you up out of the bag and holds you to him. His touch reverent as he kisses your forehead, one hand coming up to shakily brush away your hair.
“Non.” is all he can offer back as a response to Hank. Not bothering to look at the man as he clutches you in his arms. Praying he’ll be enough to bring you back..
“Come back ta Remy, Chère… please..” he whispers once Hank leaves. His voice breaking as tears run down from his eyes, wetting his cheeks before they drip onto your cold, paled skin. His hand having moved to rest over the open hole in your chest where Magneto had ripped your heart out.
