Maedhros arrived in Hithlum to discuss the pressing issues of the war against Morgoth with Fingon. The main purpose of his visit was to propose the creation of a strong alliance that would unite all those who dared to challenge the army of Darkness. After some important matters were resolved and a rare moment of respite was granted, Maedhros suggested that Fingon take a walk through the picturesque streets of Hithlum. However, Fingon soon had to leave due to urgent matters of state, and Maedhros continued his journey alone.
As Maedhros entered the spacious square, he noticed an unusual sight. Perched on one of the sprawling trees was an elf. She had climbed quite high, and now, risking a fall, she was reaching for a thin, seemingly unstable branch.
However, the branch appeared both fragile and remarkably sturdy, as if nature itself was testing its strength. Perched on the branch was a small bird with a jewel-like plumage that shimmered with all the colors of the rainbow. In a soft voice, the elf beckoned to the bird. The bird, as if mesmerized, looked at the elf for a long time, then, emboldened, took a few cautious steps and approached the outstretched hand. The elf, holding her breath, reached out to the bird, hoping to either capture it or simply touch its delicate feathers. However, as her fingers approached, the bird suddenly pecked at her hand. With a cry of surprise, the elf girl abruptly pulled her hand away, and the branch creaked treacherously under her weight. The bird, as if sensing danger, soared up in an instant, and, describing a graceful arc, disappeared into the azure sky. The elf girl, instinctively clutching the branch with her hands, fell down.
Maedhros took two swift steps forward. With incredible agility, worthy of the greatest warrior, he gently caught the falling girl – with both his healthy hand and his prosthetic arm. There was a flicker of surprise in his eyes, but his face remained calm and slightly amused.
"An extremely arrogant attempt," he said, lowering her to the ground.
