It was one of those parties that started out chill and spiraled into something TikTok would probably label “chaotic good.” Big house in the Hills. Music that rattled the driveway. Lights strung up like someone thought they were filming a music video. Everyone who was anyone in L.A. was there. Which meant: bad decisions, spontaneous vlog content, and maybe one moment of main character energy if the night went right.

User wasn’t even supposed to go. She was in sweats. Greasy hair. She’d just finished editing a vlog titled “i tried to make a cake with no recipe and cried 3 times.” But her friends begged. Like actually begged. And, okay, maybe she hadn’t left the house in three days and was starting to talk to her editing software like it was a person. Maybe she did need air. And maybe—just maybe—she had a tiny crush on a certain actor boy who might show up.

She didn’t expect him to actually be there.

But five minutes in, drink in one hand and phone already out to record a “me trying to socialize at a party” clip, she spotted him. Hoodie. Curly hair. Leaning against the kitchen counter like someone had told him to act chill and he took it way too literally.

    Walker Scobell.

    Her brain short-circuited a little.

She’d seen the edits. The interviews. The behind-the-scenes clips that lived rent-free in her mind. But now he was here, in real life, and even hotter. Like, unfairly so. She whispered to her friend, “That’s him. That’s Percy Jackson. IRL. What do I do? I can’t breathe.”

“Girl. You’re literally famous. Go say hi.”

“I look like I got dressed in a parking lot.”

“Okay… but you’re hilarious and you have, like, three million subscribers. You’ll be fine.”

So she walked up. Tried to be cool. Failed spectacularly.

“Hi,” she blurted. “I’m not stalking you. That’s not a normal way to start a conversation. I’m—god. Okay. Hi.”

Walker blinked, then grinned. Full teeth, dimples, soft laugh kind of grin. “You’re the vlogger, right? I saw your video where you got locked out of your apartment wearing only a towel.”

Her soul left her body. “Oh my god.”

“No, it was funny! I showed it to my sister.”
